Cannon ammunition came in a variety of different types. Round shot was the most common and was generally made from solid cast iron, although some were hollowed to make them explosive, and some older shot, were stone which would fragment. The shot came in a variety of different sizes depending on which type of cannon it would be fired from. Cannon shot often still has mold seems visible as well as sprue marks
